300 & Stomp the Yard

These are 2 movies i've watched over the past week, though i did watch some thai shows on vcd like "the dorm", "mercury man" both are rather corny, but entertaining.. haha.. and re-watched "just like heaven" on SCV, that had a pretty heavy impact on me. It reminded me how much i like to watch reese witherspoon, and her movies.

anyway, back to main points, i personally like "300" pretty much. it's basically a small army fighting a mathematically enormous army. i like the simple plot, pure-simpleminded-egomaniac thinking of the spartans. the fight scenes war pretty well shot, there's no jumpy views which really just cause headache instead of creating tension. teamwork is the essence of their combat tactics. it's always exhilarating to see impeccable teamwork in the process. shiok. haha. i think greek history is as messy as rojak, some bright colors are evident in the dish, but most of it is just covered in a black gluey marsh. BUT it still tastes GOOD. haha.. spartans are actually short, just look back at the scene when Leonidas met Xerxes, Leonidas looked like a hobbit in front of Xerxes. one word can describe the situation, comical. the scenary in the whole show is quite beatifully done, esp when it's totally shot in blue/green screens.. xerxes is from persia, which essentially is asia, and wat bugs me is that the producer depicts asia as a place full of freaks and freaky creatures.. ouch!! overall good show, goos entertainment.

"stomp the yard" is something i watch just last night. it's about black culture in US, hiphoping, battling but the MAIN in this movie is called STEPPING. Stepping and stomping to heavy rhythmic music, radical moves and unison is the key of this dance. it's probably adapted from s stomping musical, cos there's just lots of action. the stomping gets your body beating to the rhythm, gets your blood pumping. simple plot with the simple ideas of life, dun give up doing what's right. it make you wanna dance, and that's wat makes a good movie good -influence-
