Malaysia 2007

Day 1

It all started with an early morning bus to Melaka... that's why yanli fell asleep on the bus very very soon.. haha.. and that gave me the chance to take her photo in sleep.. hehee...

the journey there took us more than 4hrs.. basically cos the driver was surprisingly slow.. havent seen such a slow bus driver in a very long time... anyway.. by the time we reached there.. we were hungry!! and first on our menu was Hainanese chicken rice balls.. YUMMY!! the chicken was very tender.. the black sauce is nice.. so was the chilli... all the key ingredients of a good chicken rice is present.. except for the rice.. not as tasty as we expected... rather bland in flavour.. butit was still good.. and the balls were smaller den i imagined.. i was thinking larger balls.. but these were.. rather bite-sized.. they were good no matter.. worth the $$...

we went to explore the rest of the city of HISTORY.. and came across this signboard with all the directions.. complicated.. anyway.. getting around the town centre is quite idiot proof.. most of the places are within walking distance.. so just walk..

next stop was a whole bunch of museums.. luckily, one ticket will basically bring you to most of the important/popular museums... BUT.. seriously.. i dun think there's much interesting stuff inside the museum.. perhaps i was just turned off by the lousy and ugly human they have in the museum.. UGLY.... something else pretty dum was the fish in this picture.. they suspended fish to make them appear in water.. SO SO SO corny... so so dum...

We also saw someone familiar... Sir Stamford Raffles.. this reminds me that actually our histories are pretty similar and pretty much linked.. do some research and you'll know why... i'll shall be lazy on this aspect.. there's still loads to cover here... heheee

These are Quail Eggs.. Very High Cholestorol.. But they are NICE.. especially when they are fried like this.. my faves are those i ate in Taipei, Ximenting.. so i guess these will have to be 2nd best.. anyway.. there was a Thai Fair at this shopping mall.. so this aint local... it's thai...

GO

GOING

GONE

That's me gobbling up all the quail eggs.. no more eggs for the rest of the TRIP.. hehee..

this is the landmark of Melaka.. the Red Buildings.. a mark of the dutch influence in this place... the day continued with more walking around in the area.. looking and also some shopping..

This was our first dinner there.. peranakan food.. not fantastic.. not the best i've eat also.. tried it simply cos it was near our hotel.. and the place look rather cosy & homely...

This is a very interesting place in our hotel.. this hall is just behind the main lobby.. and it's called "Ying Yan Ting" which literally means Hall to welcome Swallows... and the birds actually have nests on this walls.. kindda freaky at night.. but it's really interesting..

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At this point in time.. i'm alittle lazy to continue.. but i'll show some interesting photos that i must mention instead... for more photos and happenings in our trip.. just click on the photos and the link will bring you to the fotopic gallery..

<<<< this is yanli looking super freaked out.. cos she din know i was taking photo.. and was afraid i couldnt get onto the cable car.. Priceless expression... :)
^^^ this was taken in the cinema in Genting Highlands.. First time trying these seats.. these are massage chairs from OSIM... and tickets are only 15RM.. which amounts to around S$7.50.. cheap cheap.. super shiok.. lie down flat to watch movie..

^^^This was taken on the morning which we were leaving Genting.. when i saw this beautiful rainbow appearing horizontally across the sky.. so i took a panorama shot.. simply beautiful..

Just as we were on our way back to Singapore, we saw this as we were crossing the causeway.. I never knew there's such a beautiful sight in Singapore too.. the land in the background u see.. that's woodlands..

Announcement!!

Going to Malaysia for a week. Malacca KL perhaps Genting. WIll be back on 27th May... Seeya...

FA Cup Nite's Out

This should be a volleyball outing, cos everyone in the pictures are from volleyball is from TJVB. So i'll mirror this post on TJVB blog too.. hahaa..

I tired asking most of the TJ vballers, past and present. However those who managed to turn up are basically free like me.. haha.. either waiting to enter Uni or having hols. Anyway, 6 of us met at raffles place and went of to look for a place for dinner. Had a pretty hard time looking for something decent to eat. We were just TOO UNfamiliar with that area. Lot's of korean/Jap/Chinese restaurants. BUT!! Our recently-back-fm-taiwan Bingguang want's western food, which is somehow a rarity in the area, so we settled for PIZZA HUT.. haha.. haven had it since... Mr fung treat us to that YEARS back.. hahaa.. As in eating in the restaurant.. Home Deliveries are not counted. Anyway that wasnt enough at all, so we had 2nd part of dinner at Don cafe, Some of us like the chicken pie there very much.. some just din really like it.. and somehow we just did not take any pictures there at all... Must be too engrossed in the food.

Harry's Bar was pretty good, we got a good table right infront of the big screen. quite shiok. that's wat u get for booking early. :) the drinks are not bad.. magaritas are NICE.. esp passion fruit magarita... and some other house cocktails.. pretty interesting.. Bingguang's Harry's 92 was pretty good... good for light drinkers and wanyang's Scarlett O'hara was.. woah.. strong.. or maybe they just got the proportion a little wrong.. but it's still good.. haha..

watch out for this drink though..

SUNSET PARADISE... I personnally do not like it.. yucks... Avoid it people!!

As for the soccer.. the action was pretty end to end.. BUT.. goals were lacking.. the 1st and deciding goal only came late in the 2nd half of extra time.. It was a pretty nice one though... a few exchange of passes between drogba, lampard & mikel.. the result was a magnificently crafted goal.. oh well.. chelsea won.. even though i was wearing Man U tshirt.. hahaa.. nvm.. it was a good goal...

for more photos taken that nite.. point ur mousey on wanyang and click!! hahaa...

FRIDAY

Today is a stay home day for me, the only time i step out of my house was to eat breakfast with my dear and send her to work. Oh our usual wanton mee stall moved, felt pretty lost when we saw a different stall in it's place. We were like stunned and momentarily became idiots staring into blank space. However, we still tried the new stall, not bad, but the old one was much nicer, this was just "not bad".

Anyway, i came home and did practically nothing except stare at the com and wait for someone to online and talk to me. Once in a while there were some chatting to do, the rest of the time was spent just staring at the reincarnation game screen. waiting for turns to appear. haha..

BUT, it's not a day where NOTHING was achieved.. Spent quite a bit of time going thru the whole lot of photos which fung gave me, consists of those from his cam and kelly's cam. OMG!!! There's more than 600photos almost 1gig worth of them.. 2 days.. that's how much photos they took.. and only a few hrs each day.. BUT!!! i still think it's quality that counts.. too many blurred shots. and too many "i dunno what u are trying to take" shots... haha.. so i'll only be uploading those that are less ridiculous onto the fotopic website.. stay tuned for photos.

oh yah, I did 2 applications today too.. or rather, 1 application and received one call.. the call is for the usher position in EXPO, arranging interview 5th jun.. NERVOUS... and i also applied for Customer Service Officer @ cathay, which basically is te usher and box office staff. Wonder if i'll get the jobs. Wednesday went to apply for the IT trade show with wanyang.. but if there's clashes in timing.. most prob i'll let go of the IT trade show, cos ushers have higher PAY!!! hehee..

VERY Early Sunday Morning

Just came back from bowling and supper with the 4e guys.. Haven bowling in ages, felt good bowling again, although wasnt very good. But this rekindle my desire to buy my own bowling ball. hehee.. save $$...

Been talking with the current batch of vballers a lot on MSN recently.. full of crapping and gossiping.. damn funny.. just like those days when was still in tj.. full of memories.. those were fun times with very little to worry about..

I always try to remind them to cherish and enjoy every minute in JC, cos this will be the happy times and enjoyable days.. UNI or army will be a whole different ball game..

Time to sleep and get ready for basketball later...

Dark Friday

Drove home from CCAB with a passenger overload in my car. All was well and there werent any traffic police along the way. Way out of point, but the sky was looking damn gloomy, as if reflecting my mood. Was laughing and talking out loud with some of the guys at prata cafe but i felt like shit actually, just cant understand why the guys cant win. Or rather why cant they just put that extra pint of effort into their receiving, spiking and blockings. AJ is not a team with better players den we do, but yet they have a winning mentally which i'm seriously envious of since the times i was in JC. That was the mentality of their game, win, just whack fearlessly but with brains. I aim to be fearless like them, and be stronger than them one day. Perhaps today is not yet the day. We have different players coming in every year, yet the problem of mental weakness remains. Why? Why does this remain even with different batch of players leaving and coming in? My guess, physical weakness, physically we are not strong enough. We build up mental strength by perservering physically, by challenging our limits, we learn to go against the odds. But our training lacks this. I guess this will be the major change i'll bring about in training if I'm able to continue in TJ.

The Game of Life

Guys lost their match today, but they took 1 set from their opponents and that's the crucial point. That set will bring them thru to the semis. So it's still not so bad. They have lost the game mainly to themselves again, very similar to the manner they lost to MJC.

In my many posts in TJVB blog, i've talked about plenty of ways to keep the morale up, how to face their opponents. When they fail to achieve what's stated, i find it hard to put blame on them. Cos in the past i couldn't do that well, in fact i still might not be able to do it. But i guess there's a crucial difference, now there's ppl like me and other seniors telling them the rite things, in the past, there's only fung. And truthfully, fung wasnt that proficient then. All is better now, I do hope that the guys achieve something in this competition, get into finals minimum. But my biggest regret will be not being able to bring the gals further into the competition.

Someone asked how to improve in the game of life. Well the question i would ask in response would be, "What do you consider an improvement in the game of life? Are you sure that improvement is really an improvement or just a meer desire to feel better?" To me the best outcome is being able to live and survive through the game of life.

In this game there are no resets, no replays. Only memories, good or bad, those will be the only things that will follow us for a very long time. As much as we would want to redo so many of the things we could have done better in one way or another, having done some things the way we did is what makes our lives unique and special. Be it good or bad, winning or losing, they are part & parcel of life, losing makes you cherish future winnings. The most important mentality to have the desire and hunger to win, while being able to survive thru and learn from loses.

I've spent 3 years in TJ, without much aim or direction. In fact i'm still pretty lost now, no idea wat i'm doing in NUS. Even less idea what i'm doing in civil engineering. The one thing i'm certain of, I see my role in TJVB to give all members fond memories of the 2 years they have in TJVB.

Pretty Boring Weekend

Saturday was slightly more eventful than sunday. I had volleyball training in the morning followed by badminton in the afternoon. I realised it's kindda hard to find a place to restring my badminton racket. Went to the sportlinks at bedok interchange just before i my badminton game. They had the service there, but it will take 1 week!! So that didnt work out. Guess i'll just go back on another day, or does anyone know where i can do it and not take 1 week? In my memories, restringing usually only take 30mins.. :P

Sunday has been pretty boring except when yanli came to find me for lunch. pretty much rot at home after that. So boring, so sianzZ... And all this sianness is due to one little monster!! yupzZ, that's the little monster!! hehee.. Yanli's niece, both her parents are in US so her aunties are taking care of her. She's taking up my timeslots.. :P

yah, she's cute and yanli say's she looks like me when i was young. Conclusion, all babies look alike when young. :P

6 more days before her mum comes back. boohoohoo...

but that also means, hey ppl!! I'm free, please ask me out.. hehee..

Good May

May has been good so far, Tj guys won against HCI today. Morale overwhelmed them. GOod win, good play, good supporters, GOOD GAME!! 1 more win and SEMIs will be knocking on the door. Went to BK at millenia walk with all the guys and gals, kids are funny. hahaa..

Second day of may and i've already watched 2 movies!! muahahaa.. Watched WILD HOGs yesterday at bedok. It's a very good show. Very funny and rather corny but it actually has a morale of them story.. hahaa.. Watch it and find out for yourself.

Today I watched the long awaited spiderman 3. 1 superhero vs 3 super villains and his own dark side, while getting a little messed up in his love life. Lots of content in the plot, i guess that's the justification for it 2.5hrs showtime. It's action packed and a rather good ending to the series, IF it's going to end. Kirsten Dunst does look a little pale, anorexia?? Watch it!! it's good..

Mayday

Exams are officially over since yesterday. I'm free from studies for the moment. For the next few months, i'll need to find a part time job and support myself alittle. My little red picanto need $$ to maintain also.

Meanwhile, i have volleyball to bother with. Gals got knocked out yesterday through a series of unfortunate events. Our main player got injured and the rest of the team just couldnt seem to recover from the shock and they finally lost. It just proves that they are still very young and not able to control themselves yet. When a teammate falls out due to injury, the rest of the team will just have to work doubly hard to cover for her lost. That something they will need to learn, but sadly this is the end of their season. Guys however are still in the running, and tml they will face their toughest opponents so far. In fact none of their opponents in the second round can be considered a walk in the part.

I miss those days when i can actually play and make a difference to the results.
